i LOVE handmade soaps. i just got some in the mail. Smells soooooo gooooood in here!
i love the paper wrappers and cotton pouches they come in. i love the lumpy bar, cut by hand. i love the zillion variations of lovely smells!! And i love buying stuff that a real live person created from scratch.
The photo above shows a soap from anthropologie that my husband bought for me. The wrapper is part of an artist series and shows off lovely artwork! i’m pretty sure he really felt he hit the jackpot finding me a handmade soap (score!) in my favorite store (score!) with an artist series wrapper (cha ching!) Nice job, honey. Ya done good!
The other soaps in the photo are also VERY special. They are by Goat Milk Stuff. i bought them as part of a fundraiser my dear friend, MaryJane is running. And they rock!!! i love them! My whole office smells like Lavender…if it were growing by the Ocean – ha!!
MaryJane and her husband are amazing. They adopted (and i say rescued) their first daughter, Harper, from China over a year ago. And even though the “timing wasn’t perfect”, they have found themselves adopting again. They have such tremendous faith. i admire them. They knew their 2nd child the minute they saw her and just set about the business of doing whatever it might take to bring her home. You can read more about their story here.
Its a good read.
Who’d have thought buying some awesome soap could help bring a little one home to her family!? i got some for myself and some for gifts….and i’m going back for more soon!
As coincidence would have it, i am about to go draw some soap-wrapper inspired art right now. And i might not be able to help following that up with a yummy smelling shower. : )
