Dream A Little Dream

September 9, 2014 by StephanieCorfee

Dream a Little Dream by Stephanie Corfee

i made this little watercolor painting today. i just love this little song. i think it is the most nostalgic lilting tune and sleepy lyric ever. How can you not feel hopeful singing or hearing words like this;

“Say nighty-night and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me………

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me”

Many singers have recorded it, but my favorite, simple and beautiful version by The Mamas & The Papas can be heard here.

“Dream a Little Dream of Me” is a song, from c.1931, with music by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt[1] and lyrics by Gus Kahn

completed works – creativity print

CREATIVITY print

i’m on a mission.  must complete all my half-finished artwork from the past several months! My day job has gotten the better of me and i’ve begun way too many projects without ever completing them. i had watercolored these circles way back and never completed the piece. SO….i might seem like i’m really cranking it out i the next week or so, but really, i’m just finishing!

This print is a nice, cheerful, colorful daily reminder of the many ways we can be creative. EVERYDAY! notice; “procrastination” is not one of the ways.

completed works – sowing the seeds

SowingtheSeeds-sm

This is really different for me. The color palette and style of illustration. i think this is what happens when the visual stimuli you’re taking in on a daily basis is SUPER varied. i had that song stuck in my head…”sowing the seeds of love, the seeds of love….sowing the seeds!” i couldn’t get it out! i started doodling and this is where it ended up. You can see closeups in my etsy shop.

If you’ve been following, i’ve also had a penchant for digitally manipulating some of my wildly patterned illustrations lately too. That’s what you see filling some of the areas in this piece….all that multi-color fill is one of my designs as well. i wasn’t sure i should post this, because it IS so different than my other work. But i’m a free-wheeling kinda girl – HA! i figure that whatever flows organically through me is what i should be sharing. Have a nice day. Hope you don’t have any songs annoyingly stuck in your head. But if you do, start doodling!
