completed work – Watery Woodnymph 24×30

September 21, 2011 by StephanieCorfee

All finished! This is a 24×30 gallery wrapped canvas painted with acrylics and overlaid with intricate line work done in opaque paint pens. Its all listed up in my etsy shop too!

Sometimes it is hard to draw the first lines of the illustration onto the canvas. Especially after you really work at getting just the right background with your paint and brush. About halfway through, i often regret ruining it. But that’s also usually when i jnow i just need to push forward until i’ve seen it through.

i know a lot of folks would have left it abstract and pure, with just color on the canvas….

What do you all think? Are you ever tempted to stop short of your plan? but then push forward anyway?

digital study for a new artwork

July 12, 2011 by StephanieCorfee

i continually find amazing uses for my graphics tablet. Lately, i’ve been using it a TON to develop digital compositions, color studies and concepts for all the ideas i have swimming in my head for artworks.

Sometimes i like the digital comp so much, i don’t even want to go paint the painting! But that seems wrong. : )

Here is one i created last night, while sitting here in my office/studio and watching Little House on the Prairie. It was the episode where Adam is in an explosion, which restores his sight. Then Mary is all worried he’ll leave her for a gal who can see. Then the poor guy gets mugged and beat over the head so he misses his law exam…..i mean, c’mon,  that’s just good tv, yo!

Anywhoo…i like this one a lot. i think i’m a gonna have it printed to a big ol’ canvas to hang in my office.

Happy tuesday!

inspiring me now – rainbow bookshelf

August 31, 2010 by StephanieCorfee

rainbowBookshelf by chotdaLooky what i’ll be setting up in my house for the next 10 years of my life!

i stumbled across this awesomeness on freshome.com while i was browsing some of my favorite Google search terms; unique color, colorful home decor, vibrant decor, colorful home furnishings….. i think maybe it has made the web rounds already? But its beauty is new to me and well worth sharing!

The arrangement was done by flickr user chotda. It is just so stunning that i will now have to make endless dust jackets and start collecting a whole lot more books! i’m imagining i’ll do some solids, some tone-on-tone and some patterns with a dominant color palette that will blend in nicely. Now all i have to do is have my hubby build me a custom bookshelf to house the gorgeousness!

Look for custom dust jackets in my shop soon – haha. i often feel the need to share my obsessions with others.
