inspiring me now: Cocoa and Hearts by Jen Ramos
The amazing Jen Ramos of Made by Girl blogging fame has just launched the Cocoa And Hearts site to make her original artworks available. um…..YUM! Ya’ll know i love color and chaos, tempered with a bit of control….this fits the bill perfectly! Jen has a very distinct aesthetic and color palette that are instantly identifiable. Pink and super-crisp, clean white are staples. i really think i will end up purchasing one of her beautiful paintings for my home, probably for the bedroom. So many people look at abstracted, brush-stroke-filled paintings and think “i could do that!” But i hardly think that the balance and ease of these paintings could be achieved by just anyone with a whim. The subtlety & variety of rose shades alone is commendable. There is so much depth in the colors she uses. They don’t seem straight from the tube, that’s for sure! As a painter, myself, i really admire the way the mish-mosh of colors looks fresh, never muddy from too much over-working on the canvas. There is confidence here…too much second guessing & re-working would yield said muddiness, so it must be so.
And sometimes (actually ALL the time for me) art is just about a feeling, and these paintings make me smile ear to ear.
Check out Jen and share the love for her new shop/gallery site!! i have to decide on a painting….
