new mantra artwork

July 6, 2011 by StephanieCorfee

i’ve been repeating this to myself lately and i think its working. So i wanted to put it into a form i could hang on the wall.

You can motivate yourself to move confidently toward your dreams also! And if YOU want a reminder on your wall, i’m happy to oblige. Here’s where to snag a little printy print of your own.

inspiring me now: Cocoa and Hearts by Jen Ramos

May 4, 2011 by StephanieCorfee

The amazing Jen Ramos of Made by Girl blogging fame has just launched the Cocoa And Hearts site to make her original artworks available. um…..YUM! Ya’ll know i love color and chaos, tempered with a bit of control….this fits the bill perfectly! Jen has a very distinct aesthetic and color palette that are instantly identifiable. Pink and super-crisp, clean white are staples. i really think i will end up purchasing one of her beautiful paintings for my home, probably for the bedroom. So many people look at abstracted, brush-stroke-filled paintings and think “i could do that!” But i hardly think that the balance and ease of these paintings could be achieved by just anyone with a whim. The subtlety & variety of rose shades alone is commendable. There is so much depth in the colors she uses. They don’t seem straight from the tube, that’s for sure! As a painter, myself, i really admire the way the mish-mosh of colors looks fresh, never muddy from too much over-working on the canvas. There is confidence here…too much second guessing & re-working would yield said muddiness, so it must be so.

And sometimes (actually ALL the time for me) art is just about a feeling, and these paintings make me smile ear to ear.

Check out Jen and share the love for her new shop/gallery site!! i have to decide on a painting….

No time like the present

October 3, 2010 by StephanieCorfee

Flutter-blogMy customers are so amazing. They have a lot of clarity that snaps me out of the muddle that consumes me when day job, artwork, etsy orders and motherhood all cloud my vision. A very smart lady suggested a quotation about living one’s life TODAY as the subject of an artwork. i already have an artwork entitled “Today is the Day” in my repertoire. But this one is more of a graphic intended to inspire a younger viewer in a more whimsical way. It just so happened i was working on a digital collage with butterflies and it just all seemed to fall into place.

This artwork is composed of an original watercolor i painted last week while our power was out. i sat in the window and just got lost in the powerless silence.

i added a series of 3 hand-drawn butterflies which i layered over the watercolor and many blades of grass and sparkles i added in with my new graphics tablet.

…and there you go. Don’t keep your fluttery self on a shelf for a better day. Spread your wings today and flit about to your heart’s content.
