For All the Brave Ones

October 25, 2017 by StephanieCorfee

Corfee-BeBraveColoring-IG

My sweet friend, Amy, asked me if i had a coloring page i could share for her child’s class service project. They are making “BE BRAVE” craft/coloring folders for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, in honor of their classmate. i was happy to make one, of course. And then thought…… it’d be even better if i shared it with my whole community. There are too many brave kids fighting cancer. i realize life isn’t fair…..but it just seems unbearably wrong.

If you know a little brave heart who is fighting this battle….or any child who might find strength or hope in this message right now, please help yourself. Just click the image for your download.

much love, s

A Simple Reminder to Color

March 28, 2016 by StephanieCorfee

Screen Shot 2016-03-28 at 10.41.04 AM

i recently got a new iPad Pro. i got it to make life easier, staple myself to my desk less often, and work smarter, not harder. In the past, i’d make coloring pages by sketching on paper, then using marker paper and a light box to ink the sketched design, then scan to my computer, open in Photoshsop, clean up the inevitable blobs and bleeds in certain areas caused by marker on paper (even good paper!), then convert to crisp, clean vectors in Illustrator. The process was taking up more time than necessary, and had me at me computer a lot more than i needed to be. After looking into the Cintiq Companion and the iPad Pro, since both allowed for “anywhere” digital drawing, i chose the iPad Pro for it’s other capabilities and cheaper price tag. i still plan to be in-studio for all my hands-on painting work, so i really juts wanted a way to streamline my sketching and vector work, so it was a good choice for me, i THINK!! : )

SO…..now i have been practicing and getting used to the tools and the responsiveness of the apple pencil, and all that jazz…..so you guys will be getting lots of my experiments shared with you as freebie downloads for a little while. Enjoy!! Once i get a good grip on it, i will be adding lots more clip art and digital files to my etsy shop that will be great for your kiddos, for wall art, for party favors and invites, and whatever else you can think of.

Happy Monday! Do Good in the world today!! xo,s

Fun Sketchbook Giveaway!

August 19, 2014 by StephanieCorfee

The summer has flown by in a flurry of late nights with the baby, early mornings…with the baby and the big boys (why don’t they understand how great sleeping in is!?), projects, deadlines, lots of video editing (Doodle Days) and Lord knows what all else. i feel as though my productivity putting out fresh art has slowed so much. i feel like i haven’t posted nearly enough pretty things for you all!

SO! A Giveaway to close out this crazy whirlwind of a summer, and encourage you guys (and myself) to crank up the creativity this fall.

i painted the cover of a cute little sketchbook and want to send it off to one of you lovely people. If you win, you have to promise to post your first sketch in it onto my facebook page, ok???

To enter, simply comment here saying how you will fill the pages…sketches? marker drawings? portraits? poems? doodles? There’s no wrong answer! i’ll use a random number generator to choose a winner from the comments next week. Please comment just once : ) But SHARE the post with your creative friends, so they can take a chance too.

UPDATE: this giveaway is now over and the winner has received her prize! Congratulations Britny!

xoxo, s

Shrinky Love for Valentine’s Day – a downloadable project

January 8, 2011 by StephanieCorfee

Hi gang!!

i am all about the love….and i like to watch it curl up and shrink inside my oven!

Here is a fun project that will allow your kids to make some Valentine’s Day trinkets with just a little help from a grown-up and a free download from yours truly!

valentine's day shrink projectDid you know you can buy Shrink film for your inkjet printer? It is seriously so much fun. i have a 100 pak in one of my office drawers and whenever Cooper is particularly bored, all i have to do is hand him a sheet to perk him up! Sometimes we go freeform and i merely draw a nice large “boundary” shape for him so he can fill it with color and doodles. The images will shrink to about 1/3 of their size and 9x the thickness when done, so working on a larger scale is necessary…and perfect for even little hands!

You can buy inkjet shrink film in tons of places online. Here is the official Shrinky DinkĀ® brand’s version. Or, if you prefer, you can just buy standard blank sheets and use a lightbox to trace your preferred design onto the translucent film. i’ve had some types that are more translucent than others, and you may not even need a lightbox : )

Anyway, if you’d like to download a nice quality version of my freebie design above for your kids to color, cut and shrink!, just click the image. i’ve designed these with pendants or small keychains in mind and the 1/4″ hole punch will work to thread a jump keyring or ribbon or cord through. These could also be used as bookmarks by threading several strands of yarn through the hole to form a “tassle” just the right length to sit in the spine of a book. The possibilities are endless!!

Have fun creating lots of Shrinky Love!

– if you purchase the shrink film, direction will be included. They are also available online and as a downloadable PDF here. : )
