Under-Watercolor – new artwork

May 14, 2011 by StephanieCorfee

Under-Watercolor-smi have a problem with doing things in threes.

My previous post was an experiment with some photoshop brushes to create a colorful transparent effect with a doodled top layer. And here’s another….#2…..which means ya’ll can count on at least one more in this style!

A customer had asked me to do a painting with “Marmalade” as its color story. Bright, sunshiney, orangey tones. Since i typically have no exact expectations for color when i begin a painting, i thought a digital painting would be a great exericse to help me build the color profile for the painting.

This is the result. i like it.

Now, when i do the actual “Marmalade” painting, some variations will inevitably occur. Paint is an animal all its own, of course…not as well behaved always as the pixels on my screen. But this is a good start. And in the meantime, i’ll happily make myself a print of this little ditty because the color just makes me so darned happy!

So thanks Kristina, for unwittingly helping me create a new art piece for my house. It’ll be in a frame by end of day. : )
