Love in Wonderland

January 23, 2017 by StephanieCorfee

I got to do a super fun commission recently for a customer who always makes my day with her unique ideas and excitement over the whole creative process. I was asked to make a keepsake piece of artwork for a bride, to be given at her bridal shower. The theme of the party was to be “Wonderland.” The concept was to combine some aspects of fashion illustration (the bride is quite the fashionista and has chosen beautiful attire for her big day) and some components of Wonderland. Here are some images of the basic process as it got underway.

Then here are some closeups that had a bit of gold sparkle. * and if you look closely, you will see some “patriotic” flowers that represent the groom.

Finally, I really got inspired to create wrappings for the gift that would hint at elements of  the art. I found some plain white tissue paper flowers at Target, and spattered them with watercolor to represent the huge watercolor blooms in the art.

Then I wrapped the gift with B&W striped paper to mimic the striped flower stems in the art and coordinate with the B&W ink sketch. I finished with multi-colored floral ribbon and metallic gold ribbon to go along with the shimmery gold paint accents I’d used in the art. I made a matching card using elements from the painting and then decorated the chic black envelope with a glittery gold heart.

i LOVED working on this project and wish everyday could include special commissions just like it. If you would like to work with me on a special keepsake like this, please drop me a line and we’ll see what we can brainstorm together!!

Show Your Colors

January 19, 2017 by StephanieCorfee

Working with Deny Designs, a curated print-on-demand site that creates countless housewares and more using a huge range of art from makers around the world,  these past few years has been a wonderful experience. They are kind people. They continually push their business and brand forward and try new things. They care about their artists. LOVE THEM!

Corfee-DenyColorPaletteADI’ve recently added some new work to my gallery on their site and am super excited about the resulting products. I’ll share some favorites with you over the next few weeks. The artwork above, “Color Palette”, is from a painting i made for my own home. It reminds me of a paintbox, has a totally imperfect, brushstroke-y vibe, and mixes bright colors with more muted, sophisticated tones. It’s the perfect cheaters way to tie a room together while making it feel a bit artsy at the same time. Check it out on table linens, coffee mugs, cell phone cases, duvets, shower curtains and more by clicking here.

And if you want to see all my designs offered across the Deny Designs product line, just click here.

Have a good one. : )

Portraits with whimsy & magic

January 18, 2017 by StephanieCorfee

CorfeeWhimsicalPortraits-TallPinWatercolor, florals, doodles, drips and spatter. i’ve been combining all my favorite painting tidbits into these charming whimsical portraits recently. They make a gorgeous keepsake and look beautiful framed in a nursery or little girl’s room. i scan and keep high resolution digital files of the art, so customers can have the art printed on mugs or in photo books as well. This also allows me to offer additional prints at various sizes so that grandparents, family or friends can have a mini version of the art for their desk as well.

Visit my shop here to purchase one of these darling portraits, and take a look at my other prints and originals while you’re there, too! ; )

Christmas Illustration Challenge on Instagram

December 18, 2015 by StephanieCorfee

Hey folks! December has been busy with custom orders, etsy shop orders and all things Christmas. But i am so happy i decided to try  the holiday illustration challenge that so many of my artist friends were doing. A lot of them committed to a new holiday themed illustration every day of the month, but i went a bit safer and decided to do 12 Days of “Christmas Belles.” You probably know if you follow me that drawing girlies in fun dresses is my fave. So! Here are all the girlies, plus a pattern (maybe for wrapping paper?) created with all of them side by side. Merry Christmas!!

All of these designs are available for licensing. Please get in touch!

Cold Hands Warm Heart

October 19, 2015 by StephanieCorfee

Corfee-ColdHandsWarmHeart-WM-blog

I wanted to make a hand-lettered painting to coordinate with the “Miss Winter” artwork i shared with you a couple posts back. Her fingerless gloves were my inspiration for this timeless phrase that totally applies to me. My hands are ice cubes all the time! i sure hope the warm heart bit is true of me as well. I added a little floral piece to round out this coordinate set. These pieces are available for licensing!

Weekend Watercolors

February 8, 2015 by StephanieCorfee

Winter seems to get longer every year. i must be getting old. Only early February, and i already am wishing for that blinding golden/pink light that touches the backyard trees as the sun begins to dip low in the sky each long, long day. So here are 2 watercolor artworks i made this weekend with that mood and warmth and feeling in mind.

Catching up again

February 5, 2015 by StephanieCorfee

i think it’s just my MO. Blog regularly, settle into it. Find a rhythm. Then….get bogged down with a big project or deadline, and ignore it for a couple months. ugh. Maybe there is no use fighting it. i’m sporadic!

But, a lot has happened.  i’ve had a lovely holiday with my family, finished my new book, and survived 4 days of solo travel to a trade show in Atlanta to promote my upcoming gift line. Came home from said trip and fell ill for a solid 10 days with the worst combo of yuckiness i have ever experience. My hair hurt! : )

Recovered.

And now i’ve caught up on all the loose ends that followed that little whirlwind and i’m resetting my clock and  beginning to sketch daily and really create again. It’s an ebb and flow sorta thing.

So here’s a little smattering of images from the past couple months for a little catch up.
