Weekend Watercolors

February 8, 2015 by StephanieCorfee

Winter seems to get longer every year. i must be getting old. Only early February, and i already am wishing for that blinding golden/pink light that touches the backyard trees as the sun begins to dip low in the sky each long, long day. So here are 2 watercolor artworks i made this weekend with that mood and warmth and feeling in mind.

Lazy Sunday – When can i move in?

September 26, 2010 by StephanieCorfee

For this lazy sunday post…i give you this lovely photo, and link to more, from one of my favorite issue of Elle Decor magazine. This whole issue was fantastic, but the home of Lindsey Buckingham (you know you love Fleetwood Mac!) is just too, too wonderful.

i can have my bags packed in 10 minutes. Wonder how they feel about houseguests?

lazy sunday – collaboration with a 4 year old

Ah, lazy Sunday. Today we did lots of work on the house and were pooped when evening came. So, my 4-year old son sat next to me at my art station and scribbled while i sketched. Liking the loose look of his scribbles, i asked him to make me some “circles” in a few different colors. His messy circles were adorably cute and i used 2 of them as the base for some quickie, silly ink sketches. Aren’t the faces goofy? My little guy LOVED watching the faces develop on the page and he was ecstatic that he was part of the drawing. We will definitely be collaborating more in the future. It was just so special…and so simple.

lazy sunday – early twirlies

Madison Room Mural

i think i’m gonna like these lazy sunday posts. It’s a guaranteed trip down memory lane as i peruse images i might want to share. This is a mural for my niece’s “big girl” room i did about 4 years ago. That one white flower is even painted to mimic the calico fabric in the bedding! It’s an early documentation of my hippy-trippy swirling style. i work smaller now. i still do murals, but only 1-2 a year maybe, if the mood and a cool project strikes. But… looking at those enormous flowers is giving me a hankering to do a big ol’ painting sometime soon, so watch out! It might be cool to see my evolution.

oh! and i should mention that after i was done painting the mural, that crib was converted into maddie-girl’s toddler bed : )

LAzy Sunday: linen sketch

February 28, 2010 by StephanieCorfee

Coop Linen Sketch

As i grow accustomed to blogging more consistently, i’ve been thinking hard about how i can keep up with interesting posts/features for you wonderful readers AND keep my sanity as i attempt to wear the many other hats we work-from-home moms, and otherwise busy modern women do. i thought a LAzy Sunday feature might be a nice, short & sweet way to end my weekend in a low-stress way, and would give me carte blanche to simply share a beautiful or meaningful image. i’d love your thoughts on this!

The above is a simple pencil sketch of my son that i did on a slubby, linen-type fabric which i then “upholstered” onto a wood board with soft padding and frayed edges. i have no idea what made me do this! My son calls it his “pillow picture” He rests his face on it sometimes! It’s an oddity, but precious to me just the same.
