custom “hidden meaning” portraits

i recently did a custom commission that was met with a lot of enthusiasm, so i’ve decided to offer these as a part of my regular repertoire.

The idea is to create a stylized portrait (not a precise representation of the subject, but an artistic rendering).

i incorporate meaningful images, words, names and dates in the subject’s hair or clothing and make a truly memorable piece where you can find something new each time you glance at it. It lends itself to storytelling. Can you imagine explaining the bits of the image to your child or grandchild? Passing the piece through generation is like passing a bit of history and personality.

i am happy to create custom mats and choose framing as well if requested. here are some basic costs:

9×12 Hidden Meaning Portrait – $200

custom 11×14 mat (decoupage) – $35

Frame selection and purchase – subject to market prices but typically $25-50
