Jumble of Catch Up!

Howdy strangers! Sorry i’ve been away. i’ve been seeing a lot of facebook lately. i think we’re in a co-dependent relationship. (Its just so easy and immediate!)  It’s been causing me to neglect my blog. Well, that and the fact i forgot how to login to my admin panel after having my entire hard drive replaced on my computer a few weeks back. i’ll admit, i abused the browser’s auto-fill-in feature and each time i’d go to login with the admin URL, i’d just click on the one that auto-filled. Pathetic, i know. It’s like forgetting your own cell phone number because YOU never dial it. duh.

ANYWAY! Here is some colorful catchup for you all. Just some pretties that have churned out since last post.

Fun Stampy Goodness in my Mailbox!

i posted a ways back about some custom rubber stamp characters i was commissioned to design for Tickled Pink Stamps in Australia.

Well!, i got a fun package with a few of them in my mailbox yesterday!! The stamps are so cute and shipping was flat, b/c you just get the rubber part and can mount it to a chunk of wood if you choose : ) OR, you can choose the digital option and receive a file of the art to use.

The 4×6-ish size is perfect for making cards and decorations. Stamp it down and color it up!!

Go visit Tickled Pink to snag some of their other designs as well.

work in progress…. an illustration of a cute surfer

This cute surfer is new to the sport and loving it. His awesome mama commissioned this fun illustration to commemorate the birth of a new obsession! : )

The image above is a combo of a pencil sketch and some graphics tablet sketching once the original was scanned and opened in Photoshop. i also was able to give the client several color scheme options by adding color in layers in PS so it could be changed easily.

Since the proof has been approved, i’ll move onto the final, original artwork that will be inked on bristol board and colored with watercolor, marker and colored pencil.

Just finished a commission….siblings portrait

A work in progress…..client commissioned wood plank siblings portrait.

Stage 1 – (above) sand the wood board and draw my portrait in pencil

Stage 2 – (below) apply several coats of thin acrylic washes and then carefully ink over the pencil drawing

Lastly….add some detail to lashes and hair…cleanup lines and add some finishing touches like blush to cheeks and lips, paint edges of wood board. I also added hanging wire and wall protectors to the back of this piece. Here is the finished artwork! Message me if you’d like to work with me to create something similar for you!
