Completed work – Splashy Nest

If i were a little sunny yellow birdy and it was time for me to feather my drab, twiggy-brown nest, i’d be super-psyched to find a mess of brightly colored ribbons and string and wire. JACKPOT!

A friend of mine who is moving into a new home got me thinking about housewarming gifts and how she would feather her nest. This little image popped into my head and i jotted it down in ink without penciling it first. i wanted it to look sketchy and imperfect, but joyful all the same. i think i will be giving little framed versions of this to my colorful friends as hostess gifts. i think it would be a shiny-happy welcome on an entry table or foyer wall.
