Bio

who: I am an artist & designer living and working in Malvern, Pennsylvania. i hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Fine Arts. The intricacies of both studies captured my attention at a young age and i could never decide between the two. Ultimately though, my life ended up on the art path. i’ve worked in advertising/marketing in an office setting, had my own wedding gown design studio, and now i work from home freelancing in graphic design about 70% of my working hours and creating original and commissioned artworks for the remainder.

My personal aesthetic is quite varied and changes with my mood. It’s a little bit bohemian, pretty much always colorful, and, when it comes to my children’s work, definitely VERY whimsical. No matter what style i’m feeling on a given day, there does seem to be a constant of intricacy & detail. i love artworks that reveal something new every time you look at them.

Ultimately, I just hope i’m leaving some unique, pretty items behind in this world.

where: I work from my home studio in a philadelphia suburb. We moved here 2 years ago for the big yard, super school district and space to spread out all my art supplies!!! i have an office workspace that i share daily with my (almost) 4-year old little assistant. There, i’m set up with my computers, printers, packing supplies and a great view of the mailbox and approaching delivery men. We also recently finished a proper studio space in our basement so i can paint, work with pastels and basically make a big ol’ mess in space made for doing so.

why: why does anyone decide to strike out on their own and begin to work for themselves? For me, it was a risk i was willing to take so that i could be home to care for my son. i also wanted to have a certain amount of flexibility in my hours/routine so that our family could break a little bit free from the strict 9-5 routine. The best days for me are when my husband gets home early, the sun is shining and i can play hooky for the afternoon & we can take a trip to the park, the mall or just go run an errand together. Those “stolen” afternoons justify any challenges i could ever face having chosen this path.
